Asian organized crime groups originate primarily from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau. The primary organized crime groups originating from Japan are the Yakuza, or Yamaguchi-gumi. The primary organized groups originating from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau are the Triad, and the Tongs. (Abadinsky, 2004)
Organized Crime is more than just a problem in the United States, It’s a global problem. In addition to the Italian and Latino groups that operate in the Americas, there are other significant organized crime groups operating from Japan, China, and Russia.
